One of the only projects I have that I still work on/in is Decluttering for Dollars. When I launched this site, it was done as the result of a free teleseminar I did for a clutter busting group I belonged too.
As I’ve been at NAMS this weekend, and after discussions with some business associates that I respect, I am thinking that I am going to move my focus to providing products – versus services (except to a select few clients that I have been working with for a long time). Why?
NAMS (Niche Affiliate Marketing Systems) has shown me that I do not have to work IN my business – but I can truly work ON my business. I’ve learned all about automation using blogs, social media (Twitter, FaceBook), forums, etc. I’ve also learned about the benefit of being an affiliate for other products – whether they are in my niche or not.
If I had to provide a quick list of what I’ve taken away from this event, it would be these items:
- I have a lot more knowledge than I thought – and my knowledge borderlines on high intermediate, the low advanced level. That was reassuring considering all the hours I’ve spent teaching myself (and I no longer advocate the self-taught approach)!
Are you under estimating the knowledge you have? Are you trying to learn on your own because you feel it’s going to save you money (and that’s a whole other discussion about time = money)? - The information I didn’t know came as a complete surprise. This was particularly true when it came to Twitter. I had no idea there was TweeterFeed, TweetSpinner, blah blah blah and all the things you can do with these tools. Do you know a lot about one area, or have you become “Jack/Jane of all trades, master of none”? Do you feel – I mean in your mind and body – the frustration and stress from trying to be everything?
- The web is going to change – as it always has. I went through this over the past few years. When I started Affordable Words in 1999, things were different. Then in 2004 when my health took a nose dive, I was out of circulation for a good number of years. Now that I’m returning to this online world, I have to somewhat rethink what I was doing before, and possibly move away from it entirely, or tweak it sufficiently. Have you kept up with the change that affects your life, whether it be in health, lifestyle, work, etc.?
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s going to happen as my life and business move forward. I’m hoping that it inspires you to think about your own life – on all levels – and what action you may need to take to be current with the times.
